Who should attend the Show?

Any professional involved in the residential or light commercial construction industries such as home builders, remodelers, Realtors®, etc.

How can I register to attend?

Registration is available online or by downloading a paper form.

Do I have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show?

No. You do not have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show. However, NAHB members are eligible for discounted registration fees. In addition, if an employee in your company is an NAHB member, all employees of your company may select from the discounted member registration fee options. See NAHB membership for more information.

I believe that someone in my company is a member of NAHB. How do I verify membership?

Call NAHB Data Services at 800-368-5242 x8313 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (Eastern) or email dataservicecenter@nahb.org.

Are children allowed to attend?

Yes, children under 18 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times when in the exhibit areas. Registration of children is complimentary and must be done onsite. All children except infants in backpacks or slings must be registered and display a badge to be admitted to the exhibit areas. Strollers for children are permitted in the Exhibit areas during published Show hours. Attendees assume all risks associated with the use of strollers on the Show floor, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage.

Is photography allowed on the Exhibit floor?

No, due to the sensitive nature of new products and unique booth displays at the Show, photography and/or video recording of any booths within the Exhibit areas by any attendee/exhibitor personnel is prohibited. Exceptions are made only when permission is obtained from the exhibitor whose booth/product is being photographed/video taped and/or all individuals appearing in the photograph or video.

Can I purchase photos of the 2017 International Builders' Show?

Yes, photos of the 2017 International Builders' Show are available for purchase from Oscar & Associates.

What is IBS doing to keep the Show sustainable?

NAHB works closely with its official service contractor and the Orange County Convention Center to focus on sustainability. Read about current initiatives such as implementing eco-friendly products and recycled materials. Exhibitors can join in the effort by using these green tips.

How can I register to attend?

You can pay for your registration fee using a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

Do I have to be a member of NAHB to attend the Show?

How long after I register should I expect to receive a confirmation?

You should receive an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours.

I think I've already registered. How do I verify my registration?

Call the Registration and Housing Office at 800-967-8619 or 847-996-5884 between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (Central) or email NAHB@experient-inc.com.

How do I make changes to my registration information prior to the Show?

You can make changes to your registration online using your confirmation number and last name to log into your record. If you do not have your confirmation number, changes can be made by calling the Registration & Housing Office at 800-967-8619 or 847-996-5884 between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (Central).

What is the registration cancellation policy for the Show?

Expo Pass Registration (including spouses): Fees are non-refundable. All sales are final. 

Full Registration, First Time Attendee, 1-Day Education with Expo Registration (including spouses): Once a registration has been processed, a $35 fee will be charged per cancellation. If a registration & special event ticket bundle is purchased only the registration fee portion of the bundle is refundable as outlined above. The special event ticket portion of the bundle is non-refundable. Requests for refunds must be received by December 1, 2017, via email at NAHB@experient-inc.com, by fax at 301-694-5124 or by mail to: NAHB International Builders’ Show Registration and Housing Office, c/o Experient, 5202 President's Court, Ste. G100 Frederick, MD 21703.

Special Events: Tickets to special events including those purchased in a bundled registration package are non-refundable. All sales are final.

Weather: A request for a weather-related refund of registration fees will be considered by NAHB in its sole discretion, on a case-by-case basis, provided the request is received by NAHB within five (5) business days after the close of the event. If approved, in lieu of a refund of the amount of the registration fee, NAHB will register the individual for the next event at no charge, and will provide the identical registration type that was originally purchased.

Hotel and Transportation Information 

What are the Official Show Hotels and how do I book a room?

View the list and descriptions of the 2018 IBS Official Show Hotels. Hotel reservations can be made online during the registration process or by downloading a paper form. All hotel accommodation requests must be made through the NAHB International Builders’ Show Registration and Housing Office or online. Show hotels will not accept individual or direct requests for rooms.

What is the hotel cancellation and modification policy?

Friday, December 8, 2017: Final deadline to make changes and room cancellations online. Failure to check in on your scheduled arrival day or cancel your hotel reservation could result in a first night’s room and tax penalty. Please refer to your hotel confirmation for the specific cancellation policy at your hotel.

Saturday, December 9, 2017 – Thursday, December 14, 2017: Any reservation changes, cancellations or requests for new reservations must be emailed to NAHB@experient-inc.com for approval and availability. All reservations will be sent to the hotels on Friday, December 15.

Monday, December 18, 2017: You must contact the hotel directly to cancel or modify room reservations. Failure to cancel in accordance with the cancellation policy printed on your confirmation could result in a charge of one night’s room and tax on the credit card used to guarantee the reservation. Under no circumstances will NAHB be responsible for refunding or returning a processing fee or room deposit for a canceled room reservation nor will NAHB be responsible for any damages from a failure to cancel a reservation.

Friday, December 22, 2017: Hotel confirmation numbers will be emailed to all attendees who have taken advantage of booking through NAHB.

Will transportation be provided between the Official Show Hotels and the Orange County Convention Center?

Yes, complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided between the Orange County Convention Center and Official Show Hotels that are not within walking distance. 

Shuttle Hours: January 10-12  6:30 am-6:00 pm daily.

Shuttle routes will be posted in December.

Are there any special rates on airfare or rental car rates for attendees of the Show?

Yes, NAHB has negotiated special travel and transportation discounts for attendees of the International Builders' Show:

Where can I park at the Orange County Convention Center and how much does it cost?

The Convention Center has designated attendee parking locations. Parking generally costs $15 per car per entry and $25 for oversized vehicles per entry. View driving directions to the OCCC. For more parking information visit OCCC.net/Attendee-Parking.

Can I park my car overnight at the Orange County Convention Center?  

No, overnight parking at the Convention Center is prohibited. Vehicles left overnight will be towed at the owner's risk and expense.

Is there a place to store luggage at the Orange County Convention Center?

What is the difference between Pre-Show Education Courses and IBS Education Sessions?

Pre-Show Courses are in-depth courses on specific topics taught by NAHB-approved instructors. They are not included with registration for the Show and require a separate fee. IBS Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis to all Full Registrants and 1-Day Education with Expo Pass Registrants.

If I register for IBS, am I automatically registered for Pre-Show Education courses?

No, a separate fee and registration is required for IBS and for each pre-show course.

Do I have to be registered for the Show to attend the Pre-Show Education Courses?

No, Pre-Show Education is a separate registration which includes an Expo Pass to access the exhibit floor.

Can I register for Pre-Show Education courses on-site?

While advanced registration is strongly recommended, on-site registration is available. In the event that people do not show up, you also have the option to come early and put your name on the waiting list for sold-out courses.

Please note that seating is limited and Pre-Show Education courses do sell out.  

How long after I register should I expect to receive a confirmation?

You should receive a confirmation within 24 hours. You will receive details on room locations and times for each course by mail within two weeks prior to the event.

Can I purchase the Pre-Show Education materials without registering for and attending the courses?

No, the course materials are not sold separately.

Yes, you must be a registered IBS attendee to attend any of the IBS education sessions offered during the Show. You may either purchase a Full Registration and have unlimited access to all education sessions or you may purchase the 1-Day Education with Expo Pass Registration option and choose which day you wish to access education sessions during the Show. 

Do I have to be registered for the Show to attend the Pre-Show Education Courses?

No, a separate fee and registration is required for IBS and for each pre-show course.

How can I become a speaker at the 2018 Show?

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for speaking at the 2018 NAHB International Builders' Show is now closed. If you would like to be notified about speaking opportunities for IBS 2019 and beyond, please complete our IBS speaker inquiry form and we'll email you updates about our RFP.

Where do I obtain additional information on Professional Designation programs offered by NAHB?

A complimentary subscription to IBS Education On Demand is included with the purchase of a Full Registration.* Emails with instructions and a link to the 2018 IBS Education On Demand online library will be sent to all eligible registrants following the 2018 Show.

International Attendee Information

I am not from the United States. What do I need to do to attend the 2018 International Builders' Show?

Depending on your citizenship, you may or may not need a visa to travel to the United States to attend the International Builders’ Show. For more details on the visa process or to find out whether you need one, view the Visa Application Information. You can also find out more information via the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs.

I need a letter of invitation for my visa interview. How can I request one?

Letters of Invitation are available upon request. You MUST be a registered attendee or exhibitor of the 2018 Show to request a letter of invitation. After you have completed your registration, including payment, you will see instructions on the acknowledgement page and the confirmation email that will take you to the online form where you enter the necessary information, including your registration confirmation ID number. Once you have submitted your information, you will receive a PDF copy of the letter via email.  You may also choose to receive a mailed copy.

I need my letter more quickly. Can you ship it via express mail?

Yes. If you need to receive your letter more quickly we can send it via Federal Express or UPS. You will need to include a valid Federal Express or UPS account number when submitting your request. If you do not include a valid account number, the letter will be sent by standard international mail. NAHB may contact you via email to verify this information. 

Can you send my letter of invitation to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate for my interview?

No. NAHB cannot send letters directly to embassies or consulates. No exceptions are made.

I am from a country that is part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), so I do not need a visa or letter of invitation. Is there anything else I need to do?

Yes.  A valid Electronic System of Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval is required for all eligible Visa Waiver Program (VWP) participants to travel to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security's ESTA is an automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the VWP. ESTA applications may be completed FREE online at the official Department of Homeland Security website

This is not my first time at IBS – I have traveled to the U.S. and/or attended the Show before. Do I still need ESTA Approval?

Yes. The Department of Homeland Security strictly enforces this requirement. VWP travelers who have not obtained approval through ESTA should expect to be denied boarding on any air carrier bound for the United States. Be sure to fill out and submit your application well in advance of your travel dates.
